DeKalb Regional Medical Center is American Heart & Stroke Association with the Get With The Guidelines Rural Stroke Gold and Get With The Guidelines Stroke Silver Quality Awards.

The most recent guidelines from American Heart Association/American Stroke Association recommend that paramedics transport a stroke patient to the closest facility most capable of treating acute stroke, even if that means bypassing other hospitals.

Know the Symptoms and B.E. – F.A.S.T

  • Balance – sudden loss of balance and coordination
  • Eyes – sudden change in vision/loss of vision
  • Face droops on one side
  • Arm drifts downward when raised
  • Speech is slurred
  • Time – Call 9-1-1 immediately
